The largest freshwater lake on Earth by surface area could cover Austria

Lake Superior spans roughly 82,100 square kilometres, making it the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area — bigger than Austria. It holds about 10% of all the fresh surface water on the planet, and is cold and deep enough that it rarely gives up the bodies of ships it sinks.
