The world's largest river delta is built from Himalayan silt for 400 million people

Where the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers meet the Bay of Bengal, they've deposited around 105,000 square kilometres of sediment eroded off the still-rising Himalayas — the largest delta on Earth. Nicknamed the Green Delta for its fertility, it spans Bangladesh and eastern India and is home to hundreds of millions of people on famously flood-prone land.
