One city straddles two continents, and millions commute between them daily

Istanbul is split by the Bosphorus Strait, which forms part of the accepted boundary between Europe and Asia — making it the only city of its size in the world located on two continents at once. Around two-thirds of its roughly 15 million residents live on the European side, with many crossing by bridge, tunnel or ferry to reach jobs concentrated there.
