This lizard drinks water through its own skin, straight into its mouth
The Australian thorny devil rarely needs to find standing water. Grooves between its spiky scales channel any moisture it touches — dew, rain, even damp sand pressed against its belly — toward its mouth by capillary action, letting the lizard effectively drink through its skin.
