Psychologists Nalini Ambady and Robert Rosenthal showed strangers brief, soundless video clips of college instructors and asked them to rate how effective each teacher seemed. Those snap judgments, made with no audio and no lecture content, closely matched the evaluations that teacher's own students gave after a full semester of classes.
