A lighthouse mistake redrew the border between two countries
Market, a tiny rocky islet in the Baltic Sea, is split between Finland and Sweden. When Finland built a lighthouse there in 1885, it ended up on the Swedish side of the border. Rather than move the lighthouse, in 1985 the two countries redrew the boundary itself into a zigzag so the lighthouse and its keepers' land stayed correctly on Finnish soil.
