Lake Hillier, on an island off Western Australia, has stayed a vivid, stable pink for as long as it's been recorded, even when sealed in a bottle. Researchers attribute the colour to salt-loving microorganisms and pigments produced in the lake's extremely salty water, though the exact mix is still debated.
