A point's antipode is the spot exactly opposite it on the globe. Because oceans cover about 71% of Earth's surface, most land antipodes land in water rather than on another landmass, so the antipode of most of continental Europe is deep in the Pacific. Only a small fraction of the world's land has another patch of land as its exact opposite.
