A baobab tree can store more water in its trunk than a swimming pool
Baobab trunks are spongy and fibrous rather than solid wood, built specifically to swell and hold water gathered in the rainy season. A large baobab can store up to 120,000 litres inside its trunk, letting it survive months of drought — and making it a literal water tank that elephants strip bark from to reach.
