One bird has a wingspan longer than a family car

The wandering albatross has the largest wingspan of any living bird, reaching up to 3.5 metres tip to tip. That span lets it lock its wings and glide for hours over the Southern Ocean, barely flapping, riding wind currents off the wave surface. Some individuals circle the globe multiple times in a single year without ever touching land.
