She freed dozens of enslaved people and never lost a single passenger

Harriet Tubman escaped slavery in 1849, then returned to the South roughly thirteen times to guide about seventy enslaved people north to freedom along the Underground Railroad's secret network of routes and safe houses. During the Civil War she also became the first woman to lead a US military raid, freeing over 700 more.
