Geography
About 250 people live on the most remote permanently inhabited island on Earth
Tristan da Cunha sits alone in the South Atlantic, roughly 2,816km from South Africa and 2,430km from Saint Helena, its nearest inhabited neighbour. The island has no airstrip, so its permanent population of around 250 can only arrive or leave by a several-day sea voyage, making it the most remote permanently inhabited archipelago on the planet.
