The world's longest railway line crosses eight time zones

The Trans-Siberian Railway runs about 9,289 kilometres from Moscow to Vladivostok, the longest railway line on Earth, crossing roughly a third of the way around the planet. Built between 1891 and 1916, it remains the backbone of Russia's freight and passenger network across Siberia.
