A tiny Pacific island is still home to the mutineers' descendants

In 1790, nine mutineers from HMS Bounty, along with Tahitian companions, settled uninhabited Pitcairn Island to escape the Royal Navy, then burned their ship in the bay to avoid discovery. Their descendants still make up most of Pitcairn's population today, one of the smallest and most remote jurisdictions in the world, with fewer than 50 residents.
