A whale's head is mostly a giant nose, built to click louder than a jet engine
Up to a third of a sperm whale's body length is taken up by the spermaceti organ, a structure that focuses clicks loud enough to be the most powerful sound produced by any animal, used to find squid in pitch-black depths over a kilometre down. The same organ may let males deliver a concussive blast at rivals or prey.
