Honey found in ancient Egyptian tombs was still edible

Archaeologists have recovered pots of honey thousands of years old that remain perfectly preserved. Honey's low moisture, high acidity and trace hydrogen peroxide make it nearly impossible for microbes to survive in — it is one of the only foods that genuinely never spoils.
