This ant forages in desert heat that kills the lizards hunting it

The Saharan silver ant forages for only about ten minutes a day, during the hottest stretch of midday when air temperatures hit around 47°C (117°F) and the lizards that prey on it have retreated underground to survive. It's the fastest ant known, covering over 100 times its own body length per second on only four of its six legs, while uniquely shaped silver hairs reflect sunlight and radiate heat away, keeping its body below its 53.6°C (128°F) critical limit during the raid.
