Nine out of every ten people on Earth live north of the equator

The Northern Hemisphere holds about 68% of Earth's land, but a far larger share of its people: roughly 90% of the global population lives north of the equator. Much of the Southern Hemisphere is covered by ocean, and large stretches of its land — Antarctica, the Australian outback, and Sahara-adjacent regions — support relatively few people. Asia and Europe alone account for the bulk of the imbalance.
