This ancient sea creature sees the world through an eye with no lens at all

The chambered nautilus, a relative of squid and octopuses that has barely changed in 500 million years, has eyes that work like a pinhole camera: light enters through a small open hole with no lens to focus it, producing a dim, blurry image. It's one of the simplest functioning eyes known in any living animal.
