Africa's lowest point is a lake nearly ten times saltier than the ocean

Lake Assal in Djibouti sits 155 metres below sea level, the lowest point on the African continent. Its water runs around 34.8% salinity, among the saltiest of any lake on Earth and comparable to the Dead Sea. Afar salt caravans have hauled slabs of it out by camel for centuries.
