A hammerhead shark's odd skull gives it near-360-degree vision

Researchers fitted hammerhead sharks with electrodes and found their widely spaced eyes give them a complete vertical field of view and overlapping binocular vision in most directions — likely better depth perception than any other shark, solving a puzzle about why their heads evolved that strange shape.
