A giant anteater's tongue is longer than its skull and flicks 160 times a minute
The giant anteater has no teeth at all. Its sticky, 60cm-long tongue, coated in backward-pointing spines and thick saliva, darts in and out of a termite mound up to 160 times a minute, hauling in thousands of insects before the colony can mount a defence and the anteater moves on.
