Crows hold something like a funeral, but it's really a safety briefing

When an American crow dies, especially visibly, other crows gather around the body, calling loudly and sometimes dive-bombing the area for hours. Researcher Kaeli Swift's experiments found crows that see a dead crow near a person wearing a particular mask will avoid and scold anyone wearing that mask for weeks afterward — the 'funeral' looks less like grief and more like the flock collectively learning what killed one of their own.
