Tiny water bears survived being launched naked into space

In 2007, dehydrated tardigrades were exposed on the outside of a satellite to the vacuum of space and unfiltered solar radiation for ten days. When rehydrated back on Earth, some revived and went on to lay viable eggs. No other known animal can shrug off both total dehydration and open space at once.
