Economics
The first model of an entire economy was a zigzag chart drawn in 1758
Physiocrat Francois Quesnay believed only farming created new wealth, with merchants and manufacturers just shuffling it around. His Tableau economique traced how farm income flowed in a repeating zigzag between landlords, farmers and merchants — the first attempt to model a whole economy, and an ancestor of today's input-output tables.
