History
An abandoned ship drifted the Arctic alone for 38 years
In 1931, the cargo steamer SS Baychimo got trapped in Arctic ice and was abandoned by its crew after a blizzard. It didn't sink — it kept drifting through the Arctic seas, occasionally boarded by explorers who found it still seaworthy, for decades. The last confirmed sighting was in 1969, 38 years after it was left for dead.
