South Africa has three capital cities, not one

When four British colonies merged into the Union of South Africa in 1910, no single city would give up its claim to be the capital, so the new constitution split the role three ways. Pretoria houses the executive branch and the president's office, Cape Town holds Parliament as the legislative capital, and Bloemfontein is home to the Supreme Court of Appeal as the judicial capital. It remains the only country in the world governed from three separate capital cities at once.
