The wisest man in Athens claimed to know absolutely nothing
When the Oracle at Delphi declared Socrates the wisest man alive, he set out to prove it wrong by questioning politicians, poets and craftsmen who claimed expertise. He concluded he really was the wisest — not because he knew more, but because he was the only one who knew he knew nothing.
