The world's highest active volcano is nearly 7,000 metres tall

Ojos del Salado, straddling the Chile-Argentina border in the Andes, rises to 6,893 metres, making it both the highest volcano on Earth and the second-highest peak in the Western Hemisphere. It even holds one of the world's highest lakes in its crater, at over 6,300 metres.
