He's the only person to win two Nobel Prizes entirely on his own
Linus Pauling won the 1954 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on the nature of the chemical bond, then won the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize for campaigning against nuclear weapons testing. A handful of people have won two Nobel Prizes, but Pauling remains the only one to win two unshared prizes outright, in two unrelated fields, a decade apart.
