Thousands of inscriptions from a Bronze Age civilization still can't be read
The Indus Valley Civilization left behind thousands of short inscriptions on seals and pottery starting around 2600 BC, but no bilingual text like the Rosetta Stone has ever surfaced, and scholars still don't agree whether the symbols even represent a full spoken language. Over a hundred proposed decipherments exist, and none is widely accepted.
