The Hundred Years' War actually lasted 116 years
Fought between England and France from 1337 to 1453 over claims to the French throne, the conflict wasn't one continuous war but a series of campaigns broken up by truces and plagues, including the Black Death. It produced Joan of Arc, the longbow's dominance at Agincourt, and the eventual collapse of England's territorial claims in France. 'Hundred Years' War' is a label 19th-century historians gave it afterward; no one living through it called it that.
