This orchid has no leaves and barely looks like a plant at all
The ghost orchid survives with no leaves and almost no visible stem — just a tangle of flattened green roots clinging to tree bark that photosynthesize in its place. It flowers rarely and unpredictably, and depends on a specific fungal partner in its roots for nutrients it can't make any other way, which is part of why it's notoriously difficult to cultivate or relocate successfully.
