'Stealing is wrong' might just mean 'Boo, stealing!'

Emotivists argued moral statements aren't facts at all, just dressed-up expressions of approval or disapproval — C.L. Stevenson called it the 'boo-hooray theory.' Saying 'stealing is wrong' doesn't describe the world any more than booing at a match does; it's an attempt to get your own feelings to rub off on someone else.
