Throwing two men out a Prague window helped start a war that killed millions
In 1618, Protestant Bohemian nobles hurled two Catholic regents and a secretary out of a window at Prague Castle to protest Habsburg rule. All three survived the fall, but the incident, the Defenestration of Prague, helped ignite the Thirty Years' War, which killed an estimated 4.5 to 8 million people across Central Europe.
