A medium-weight object feels heavier right after you lift something light

Judgments of weight, temperature, price, and even attractiveness shift depending on what was just experienced beforehand, not just the object itself. Lift a light object first and a medium one right after will feel heavier than if you'd lifted something heavy first; the same medium object produces opposite impressions purely from what preceded it. Retailers exploit the same contrast effect by showing an expensive item first, making whatever comes next look like a bargain.
