There's a patch of desert on Earth that no country wants to claim
Bir Tawil is a roughly 2,000 square kilometer stretch of land on the Egypt-Sudan border that both countries have effectively refused to claim, because claiming it would mean giving up their stronger claim to the nearby, more valuable Hala'ib Triangle. The result is one of the only pieces of land on Earth, besides Antarctica, that is terra nullius, claimed by no state at all.
