Custer split his force before Little Bighorn, and none of his men survived

In June 1876, Lt. Col. George Custer divided the US 7th Cavalry to attack a Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho village that scouts had badly underestimated. Custer's own detachment of roughly 210 men was wiped out within about an hour, the worst US Army defeat of the Plains Indian Wars.
