Five roads Aquinas thought all led to God

In the Summa Theologica, Aquinas offered five arguments for God's existence drawn from observed features of the world: things in motion need a mover, effects need causes, contingent things need a necessary being, degrees of perfection need a maximum, and order in nature needs a designer. Each traces a chain back to a first, uncaused source.
