Physicists caged a piece of antimatter for over fifteen minutes

Antimatter annihilates on contact with ordinary matter, so simply holding onto it is a feat in itself. In 2011, CERN's ALPHA experiment used magnetic fields to suspend antihydrogen atoms in a vacuum, untouched by any container wall, for 1,000 seconds, long enough to begin studying whether antimatter obeys the same laws of physics as the matter that makes up everything else.
