Before setting off to hunt, a pack of African wild dogs performs a ritual greeting rally, during which individuals sneeze. Researchers found the sneezes function as votes: the more dogs sneeze, the more likely the pack moves, and fewer sneezes are needed to tip the decision when a dominant dog initiates the rally. It's one of the clearest documented cases of quorum voting in a wild mammal.
